Angélico formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2005 with Lucas Arruda on vocals and guitar, Rafael Martini on bass, Thiago Mattar on drums, and Felipe Soares on guitar. Their debut album 'Bailarina' came out in 2009, anchored by the title track that became something of a local anthem.
Their sound pulled from Brazilian samba, rock, and funk, which gave songs like 'City' and 'Crazy' a particular rhythmic energy.
The lineup shifted over time. Felipe Soares left in 2015, replaced by Luis Barcelos on guitar. Thiago Mattar departed in 2019, with Bruno Spengler taking over on drums. They kept releasing albums every few years, including 'Valsa' in 2014 and 'Tudo Azul' in 2020.
