Angelo e Angel

Angelo Mendes and Angel Wolff started playing together in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s. They worked through some lean years playing small venues before their self-titled debut album came out in 1996. That record had 'Prefiro a Saudade,' a song about longing that connected with people and became their most recognizable track.

Their music mixed pop with samba and MPB, and they kept putting out albums like 'Por Amor' in 1998 and 'Alma Gêmea' in 2002. They toured a fair bit, and other songs like '4G' and 'Amando Mais Ou Menos' found their audience too.

They were known for speaking openly about LGBTQ+ rights and social issues, which brought them both support and criticism. The duo also dealt with personal difficulties, including Angelo's struggles with addiction and Angel's with depression, while trying to maintain their partnership and keep making music.
