Anguere

Anguere formed in the Basque Country in the late 1980s, coming out of Bilbao's punk and rock scene. Their debut album 'Barricada' arrived in 1990, with the title track becoming a rallying cry for listeners who felt marginalized. The band was led by vocalist Fernando 'Muñin' Andreo, and their music carried a political charge from the start.

Their songs like 'Cadeia' and 'Chacina' continued to address social issues, which drew both supporters and critics. The band's stance on Basque independence and criticism of police brutality brought legal and political challenges, but they kept recording through the 1990s with albums like 'Por Instinto' and 'La tierra está sorda'.

Anguere's sound mixed punk energy with rock structures and occasional Celtic touches, though it was their lyrics about injustice and resistance that defined them. They released music into the 2000s, including 'Bésame en casa' in 2000, maintaining a consistent voice even as the controversies around them continued.
