Anhkrehg

Anhkrehg formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 2000, with vocalist Aaron "Grim" Moore at the center. Their music pulled from black metal, industrial, and ambient sounds, creating something that felt intentionally heavy and atmospheric. Early on, they worked with themes of nihilism and misanthropy, which set a particular tone for what followed.

Their debut album, "Against You All...", came out in 2002 and included the title track that became a notable song for them. They followed it with records like "The Philosophy of Despair" in 2004 and "Of the Abyss" in 2006. Other songs in their catalog include "Dark Soul," "Haïr," and "La Malédiction Finale."

Anhkrehg's live shows and lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being confrontational or bleak. In 2007, there was an incident where a fan's suicide was loosely connected to one of their concerts, which brought more scrutiny. The band has generally defended their work as a form of expression, without backing away from the darker elements.

The group has included members like James "Dis" Moynihan on guitar, Gregory "Reaper" Koutsos on bass, and Daniel "Hammer" Firth on drums, with Moore remaining the vocalist. They've kept a fairly consistent presence in certain metal circles since the early 2000s.
