Anneke Grönloh

Anneke Grönloh was a Dutch singer of Indo-Dutch descent who began performing as a teenager. She was born in Tondano, Indonesia, and her career took off in the 1950s with her debut single "Liefde op het eerste gezicht" becoming a national hit in the Netherlands.

Her international recognition came with a rendition of "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)," which topped charts in several countries. She toured extensively in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia during this period.

Grönloh's most enduring song is "'n Chanson d'amour," released in 1960. It became a classic in Dutch music history and has been covered by numerous artists. Other notable songs from her catalog include "'t Is Weer Aan," "Al die jaren," and "Bambola (la bambola)."

In 1958, her song "Brandend Zand" was considered too provocative for public broadcast due to its suggestive lyrics. Her music sometimes blended Indonesian and Western influences, though she remained primarily known for her pop recordings.
