Anni-Frid Lyngstad was born in Ballangen, Norway in 1945. She started singing early, influenced by Edith Piaf and Ella Fitzgerald, and put out her first single 'En ledig dag' in 1963 when she was eighteen.
In 1972 she joined what became ABBA, singing alongside Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Agnetha Fältskog. The group won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with 'Waterloo' and went on to record hits like 'Dancing Queen' and 'Mamma Mia'. ABBA stopped recording together in 1982.
After ABBA, Lyngstad made solo albums including 'Something's Going On' in 1982 and 'Djupa Andetag' in 1996. Her solo work includes songs like 'Alla Mina Bästa År' and 'Come To Me (I Am a Woman)'. She has also sung with other artists, including Phil Collins and José Carreras, and worked with UNICEF.
