Another Level formed in 1995 as a vocal quartet with Dane Bowers, Mark Baron, Bobak Kianoush, and Wayne Williams. Their first single "Be Alone No More" went to number one on the UK charts, giving them an immediate foothold. They worked with record producer Simon Cowell early on.
Their second album, also called "Another Level," included the track "Holding Back the Years." Other singles like "Freak Me" and "From The Heart" became radio staples in the UK R&B scene of the late 1990s. The group's sound mixed soulful vocals with dance rhythms.
Wayne Williams left the group in 2000 and was replaced by Richard Blackwood. Internal tensions and lineup changes became part of their story as they navigated the British music industry.
