Background notes

Archive material and source history

Anta formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s with Gilmar Bolacha on vocals and guitar, Fábio Batera on bass, and Ramiro Musotto on drums. Their debut album 'Anta Bananas e Dinossauros' came out in 1994, and its title track became something of an anthem for them.

Fábio Batera died in a car accident in 1996, which hit the band hard. They kept going after that, dedicating later albums to him.
