Anti Céticos

Anti Céticos formed in Porto in 1985, with vocalist António Manuel Ribeiro and guitarist Pedro Jóia at the center. They came together after the earlier band Três Tristes Tigres, adding bassist Luís Varatojo and drummer Luís Barros. Their first album, 'O Erro Foi Somente Meu,' came out in 1987 and gave the band its name. The title track became a ballad that connected with listeners in Portugal.

Manuel's stage presence was intense, and the band's lyrics often took an anti-establishment view. In 1992, their album 'P'ra Falar a Verdade' drew attention for its direct language and social commentary. Other songs like 'Amizade o que?' and 'Anarquia tem explicação' reflected similar themes.

The lineup changed over time, but the group kept recording and performing. They put out songs such as 'Anti-Céticos' and 'Idéias que não são iguais,' maintaining a melodic rock sound that stayed recognizable to their audience.
