Antico Véronica was a French duo formed in the late 1990s by Damien Verhé and Ingrid Caven. Verhé had been a guitarist with Les Négresses Vertes before starting this project, while Caven came from film and theater. Their music had a stark, classical feel with gothic touches, and Caven's voice gave it a theatrical weight.
Their songs often dealt with difficult subjects, which sometimes got them into trouble with censors. Other songs like "J'évite" and "Les Abîmes" continued in that vein of exploring dark or taboo themes.
