Antics formed in 2004 as a duo with Sarah Jones on vocals and keyboards and David Reed handling multiple instruments and production. Their debut album 'The Catalyst' came out in 2006, followed by 'Anomaly' in 2008 and 'Transcendence' in 2012.

Their track 'Catalyst' became a signature piece that drew attention to their blend of electronic and industrial elements with ambient textures. The music sometimes incorporated darkwave and gothic rock influences, creating a sound that felt both atmospheric and grounded in electronic production.

While their lyrics occasionally stirred debate for being provocative, they maintained a steady output through those early albums. Their work appeared in some film and television placements, and they collaborated with artists like Nine Inch Nails and Gary Numan.
