Anttarez formed in Recife in 2018 with Bruno Policarpo on vocals and guitar, Chico Lima on bass, and Hugo Rocha on drums. They started playing local bars and small venues, working through the usual early struggles of a new band.
Their debut single "Nuvens Cinzas" came out in 2020 and became their most recognizable song. The track's moody atmosphere and introspective lyrics connected with listeners and gave the band its first real attention.
In 2022 they released their first album, "Escuridão," which showed a range from quieter ballads to louder rock tracks. They've kept the same three members since the beginning, drawing from rock, grunge, and Brazilian music influences.
