Ape

APE formed in 1997 with Davide Toffolo on vocals and guitar, Ellade Bandini on drums, Roberto Girardi on bass, and Enrico Ghedi on guitars. They worked in a space between alternative rock and folk, with Toffolo often singing in Venetian dialect.

Their 1998 song "Amori Avari" became their most recognizable track, reaching the top of Italian charts. Other songs like "Tundi" and "All You Need Is Hate" followed a similar pattern of atmospheric arrangements and direct lyrics.

Their performances and subject matter sometimes drew criticism, but they kept recording and playing shows through the late 1990s and early 2000s.
