Apl.de.Ap, born Allan Pineda Lindo, grew up in Angeles City, Philippines. He joined the Black Eyed Peas in 2003, around the time the group released their album 'Elephunk' and found international attention. His track 'Bebot' became a standout, mixing hip-hop with Filipino language and themes.

Beyond the group, he's put out solo work like the album '1981' and collaborated with artists including will.i.am. The song 'Boom Boom Pow' from his time with the Black Eyed Peas shows his part in their electronic-tinged pop phase.

He started the Apl.de.Ap Foundation, which focuses on education and community projects in the Philippines. In 2011, there was some discussion about similarities between the Black Eyed Peas song 'I Gotta Feeling' and a Korean children's tune, though he wasn't the only member involved.
