Apollo formed in 1998 as a Brazilian pop-rock band, starting with vocalist Gabriel Moura and guitarist Marcelo Lima. They later added bassist Bruno Alves and drummer Thiago Abreu. Their debut album came out in 2000, titled after the song 'Não Quero Ser Só Mais Um Amigo,' which became a hit ballad about unrequited love.

They released several albums over the next two decades, including 'Entre o Céu e o Inferno' in 2002 and 'Sombra e Luz' in 2005. Their 2020 album 'Aurora' was described as a return to their roots. Other songs in their catalog include 'Taste Of Your Lips,' 'Chega Aqui,' 'Eu Vou Te Ajudar,' and 'Adeus Karol.'

In 2006, the band faced plagiarism allegations and took a temporary break from music. They eventually resumed their work.
