Apparat is the project of Sascha Ring, who started making music in Berlin in the early 2000s. His first album, simply titled 'Apparat', came out in 2005. He has a background in classical training, which he mixes with electronic production to create atmospheric tracks like 'Goodbye' and 'Black Water'.

In 2007, Ring released the album 'Walls', which leaned into more experimental sounds. That same year, 'Goodbye' was used in an advertising campaign without his permission, leading to a public statement from him about the unauthorized use. He has worked with other artists from the Berlin scene, including Ellen Allien and Modeselektor.

Apparat's 2009 double album 'The Devil's Walk' is a sprawling piece that deals with themes of isolation and loss. Songs such as 'HEROIST' and 'Arcadia' reflect his focus on introspective lyrics and layered electronic arrangements. He has performed live at various festivals and venues internationally.
