Appez formed in 2002 with Jake Carter on vocals and guitar, Sarah Jones on bass and keys, Matt Davis on drums, and Emily Wilson on guitar and backing vocals. They put out their self-titled debut album in 2004, which included the track 'My New Song.' That song got some attention at the time, along with others like 'Calorimetria' and 'Just a Pinch.'
In 2006, Carter was arrested on a drug possession charge, which led to a break in the band's activity. When they came back, they released two more albums: 'New Horizons' in 2008 and 'Evolution' in 2011. Neither quite caught on like the first one did.
