Apples formed in 1990 as a trio with Tori Amos on vocals and piano, Matt Chamberlain on drums, and Jon Brion handling guitar and production. Their debut album 'Tidal' came out in 1991, followed by 'Under the Pink' in 1994. Brion left the band in 1996.
Their songs like 'Caravan Of Love' and 'Dreaming Of You' show Amos's writing style, which sometimes touched on difficult personal topics. The group put out several more albums including 'Boys for Pele' in 1996 and 'Scarlet's Walk' in 2002.
They worked mostly out of Los Angeles. The music mixed indie rock with electronic elements, but the core was always Amos's voice and piano playing against Chamberlain's drumming.
