Editor's note

April's quiet songs about love and feeling complete

A songwriter who turned small moments into gentle, lasting music.

For the mood, try 'Glass Castle'. For the direct question, 'Can I Love You?' gets right to it.

April wrote songs that feel like conversations you overhear in a quiet room. 'Falling In Love' captures that tentative, hopeful feeling when something new begins. Her music doesn't shout; it settles in.

The songs suggest a focus on emotional interiors, from the early simplicity of 'Hey Yo Hey' to the more complex reflection in 'The Impossible Task of Feeling Complete'. The work stayed personal across those 63 tracks.

April was a South Korean girl group that debuted in 2015 under DSP Media. They started with six members: Somin, Chaekyung, Naeun, Yena, Rachel, and Jinsol. Their first album was called "Dreaming," and its title track "Dream Candy" found some early listeners.

In 2016, member Hyunjoo left the group amid allegations of bullying by other members. The group continued as five, and in 2017 they released "Oh! My Mistake," which became a viral hit and brought them wider attention. They also put out songs like "LALALILALA" and "TinkerBell."

Over the next few years, April released albums like "The Blue Bird" in 2018 and "Da Capo" in 2019. Member Somin left in 2019, and Lee Naeun later took a hiatus following her own bullying allegations. The group announced their disbandment in early 2022.
