Aquiles Priester

Aquiles Priester is a Brazilian drummer and singer who came up in Porto Alegre. He started playing drums early, influenced by bands like Iron Maiden and Dream Theater. His drumming eventually got him noticed by the Brazilian metal group Angra, where he played for a stretch.

In 2012 he put out his first solo album, 'Captivity (A House With A Thousand Rooms).' The title track from that record, along with songs like 'The Reason Of Your Conviction' and 'A Miracle In My Life,' showed him handling both drums and vocals. He's kept making solo records since, including 'Global Warning' in 2017 and 'Beholder' in 2021.

Over time he's also done session or collaborative work with other metal acts, including Megadeth, Exodus, and Symphony X. He's mostly known for a melodic metal sound that leans on big drums and clean singing, without sticking to just one role in a band.
