Arabesque was a German trio that formed in Frankfurt in 1977. The original members were Michaela Roser, Mary Ann Nagel, and Karen Ann Tepperis. Their 1979 single "Friday Night" became a disco hit across Europe, giving them their biggest success.

They released several albums through the early 1980s, including Friday Night Fever and Time to Say Goodbye. Tepperis left the group in 1984 due to health issues and was replaced by Jasmin Vetter. Other songs like "Marigot Bay" and "Hello Mr. Monkey" kept them active in the Europop scene.

The band faced some criticism for their image, which some found overly sexualized for a female group. They continued performing and recording until disbanding in 1987. While they never matched the impact of "Friday Night" again, that song remains their most recognizable track.
