Araújo formed in São Paulo in 1997, with Edgard Scandurra on vocals and guitar, Fábio Campos on bass, and Alexandre Árabe on drums. They put out their first album, simply called 'Araújo,' in 1999. The lineup changed in the early 2000s when Árabe left and was replaced by drummer Felipe Roseno.
Their song 'Estilo de Vida' became their most recognizable track. Over time, they released several more albums, including 'Nação' in 2003 and 'Experiência' in 2008. The band's music often touched on social and environmental themes in its lyrics.
