"A bright light filled the plane," wrote Lt. Col. Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay, the B-29 that dropped the first atomic bomb. "We turned back to look at Hiroshima. The city was hidden by that awful cloud...boiling up, mushrooming." For a moment, no one spoke. Then everyone was talking. "Look at that! Look at that! Look at that!" exclaimed the co-pilot, Robert Lewis, pounding on Tibbets's shoulder. Lewis said he could taste atomic fission; it tasted like lead. Then he turned away to write in his journal. "My God," he asked himself, "what have we done?" (special report, "Hiroshima: August 6, 1945")

Weather observation plane

Has called to "Enola Gay"

"Boy" 's prepared to pain

Fair weather, the sky's clear

"Straight Flesh" has been here

Left this vapor trail

Twelve members of the crew

Execution will be soon

They'll be in the news

Paranoia in the minds

Flying Fortress in the sky

It's the day of doom

And now "Enola Gay" is on Its way

The black wings, the bomb of the fate

So see her captain is caught in his pride

The demons of hell, the dark in their light

It's 8.14

"Bi san" opens its hatch

Rage without a cage

The bomb's falling down

Onto peaceful town

Turning to the grave

Pawl Tibbets Jr.

Doing his daring manoeuvre

To return to port

A gray mushroom's getting up

Fire's burning in its heart

There's a devil's core

(Leadbreaks)

Lava's flowing in grain

Smoke and thunder blows rained

Nothing can remain

This apocalyptic view

Wave of blow's getting through

Everybody's insane

Thousands of peaceful people

They are fallen in twinkle

The tragedy is so real

Apotheosis of the win

It's a shame, isn't it

Menaces are tripled

And now "Enola Gay" is on Its way

The black wings, the bomb of the fate

So see her captain is caught in his pride

The demons of hell, the dark!
