Archers Of Loaf

Archers of Loaf formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1991 with Eric Bachmann, Matt Gentling, Chris Fetterolf, and Patrick Hallahan. Their debut album 'Icky Mettle' came out in 1993, followed by 'Vee Vee' in 1995 and 'All the Nation's Airports' in 1996. They were part of that early '90s indie rock scene that didn't quite fit anywhere obvious.

Their songs like 'Greatest of All Time' and 'Harnessed in Slums' had this wiry guitar sound and Bachmann's distinctive vocal delivery that felt both urgent and slightly off-kilter. The music wasn't polished in that conventional way, which gave it a particular energy that connected with people looking for something outside the mainstream.

They toured consistently through the mid-'90s and developed a following that appreciated their particular approach. The band dissolved in 1998 after releasing those three albums and a handful of EPs, though they've played occasional reunion shows in the years since.
