A.R.E.S.V. Arranco da FGAF is a Brazilian duo from Salvador, Bahia, formed in 2013. The group consists of vocalist and keyboardist Rafael Reis and drummer Igor Ferreira. Their music tends toward chaotic rhythms and surreal lyrics, which has kept them mostly in underground circles rather than reaching mainstream audiences.
In 2019 they released "Visões Insanas de Uma Rainha Muito Louca," an eighteen-minute track that became something of a cult favorite. They followed that with "Samba Enredo 2020 - Um Culto Encantado À Sagrada Jurema" the next year. Both songs show their preference for extended, hallucinatory soundscapes over conventional song structures.
Their debut album "Pesadelos e Pestilências" came out in 2016, followed by "O Começo do Fim." The titles alone suggest their thematic interests lean toward nightmares, plagues, and apocalyptic imagery rather than more accessible subjects.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
