Argemiro Jaramillo

Argemiro Jaramillo was a Colombian singer-songwriter from Aguachica who worked in the vallenato and Andean folk traditions. He released his self-titled debut album in 1984, and his fourth album, 'Soledad Eterna,' came out in 1998. That title track became his most recognized song, a ballad about unrequited love that connected with listeners.

His music sometimes dealt with difficult themes like infidelity and loss, which brought him both attention and criticism. Songs like 'A Mi Madre,' 'Cuarenta Borracheras,' and 'Pague Con Lagrimas' show his range within emotional territory. He recorded with musicians including accordionist Ismael Rudas and guitarist José Félix García.

Jaramillo released 14 studio albums across his career, including 'Estrellas de Amor' in 1992 and 'El Silencio de tu Ausencia' in 2002. His voice had a raw quality that suited the directness of his lyrics. The 2014 compilation '30 Años de Historia' collected material from his three decades of recording.
