Ari Borovoy was born in Mexico City in 1971. In 1989, he co-founded the vocal group OV7 with six other performers including Lidia Ávila, Érika Zaba, and Kalimba Marichal. The group found success in the early 1990s with albums like "Te Quiero Tanto" and "Shabadabada."
In 2000, Borovoy released his solo debut album "Solo" while continuing to work with OV7. The track "Booming" from that album became a major hit across Mexico, Latin America, and the United States. Other songs like "Extasis," "Frá giles," and "Llueve" also appeared in his catalog.
Borovoy faced vocal cord issues that required surgery at one point. He also had a legal dispute with his former record label EMI Music. In 2019, he was accused of sexual harassment, which he denied, and the case was eventually dismissed.
