Archive material and source history
Ariaz formed in Guadalajara in the late 1990s with Ulises Lozano on vocals and guitar, Armando Manzanero Jr. on guitar, Salvador 'Chava' Moreno on bass, and Rafael 'Guayo' Gamboa on drums. They built a following playing small venues around Mexico, developing a sound that felt raw and direct to their early audiences.
Their 2003 album 'Corazón Confidente' included the song 'Ganas,' which became widely popular across Mexico. The track's straightforward emotional delivery connected with listeners, making it something of an anthem for a particular moment. They also recorded 'No Quiero' with Maluma later on.
After Lozano left the band in 2005 following some public criticism of the music industry, Ariaz continued without him, releasing albums like 'Salvavidas de Piedra' in 2007 and 'El Silencio de los Ángeles' in 2010. Lozano pursued a solo career separately.
