Aricia Mess

Aricia Mess formed in the small town of Uauá, Bahia in the early 2000s, with vocalist Aricia Alves and guitarist Messias Guimarães at the center of the group. They started playing local bars and festivals, mixing traditional Brazilian rhythms with more experimental sounds. Their lyrics often addressed social justice and female empowerment, which drew both supporters and critics.

In 2006, they released their debut album "Canção do Sertão," which included the song "Bate Folha Jurema." That track became something of an anthem for listeners across Brazil. They followed with albums like "Flor da Pele" in 2008 and "O Caminho das Águas" in 2012, and toured both within Brazil and internationally.

The band's lineup has stayed fairly consistent, with Alves on vocals, Guimarães on guitar and vocals, Eduarda Dantas on violin and vocals, Denys Kelson on bass and vocals, and Bruno Castilho on drums. Their music draws from forró, MPB, rock, and samba, and they've been involved with various social and environmental causes over time.
