Archive material and source history

Arid formed in Lahore in 1995 with vocalist Goher Mumtaz, guitarist Salman Ahmed, bassist Auj Kazmi, and drummer Aqeel Ahmed. Their debut album 'Bandung' came out the following year. The band's second album 'Pehla Sitaray' in 2001 included 'All I Did (Was Get Close To You),' which became their most recognizable song.

They've released four studio albums total, with 'Dard-e-Disco' following in 2005 and 'Kaya Yeh Sach Hai' in 2010. Other songs like 'All Will Wait' and 'At The Close Of Everyday' show their range within a rock and alternative framework that sometimes incorporates Pakistani musical elements.

The ban was lifted following public response. Years later, in 2010, they faced plagiarism claims regarding their song 'Udh Chaliye,' which they denied by saying the melody drew from traditional Pakistani music.
