Armond

Armond formed in 2015 around vocalist and guitarist Aaron Mitchell, who goes by the name Armond, and bassist David Jones. They started in Atlanta, pulling from soul, R&B, and hip-hop. Their first album, also called 'Walk Away', came out in 2017. That song became a kind of anthem for them, a straightforward piece about resilience that people connected with.

They followed it with 'The Sound of Liberation' in 2019 and 'Unveiled' in 2022. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social issues and personal struggles, which drew some criticism but also found an audience. The music kept a soulful core, built around Mitchell's vocals.

You can hear that directness in tracks like 'What U Want (For Real)'. It's not overly polished, which gives it a lived-in feel. They've stayed a band focused on that blend of genres, working from Atlanta without much fanfare about being influential or defining a generation.
