Arms Akimbo formed in London in the early 2000s as a four-piece band with Eamon Hamilton on vocals, Alex Connor on guitar, Jonathon Rix on bass, and Christopher Berry on drums. Their debut EP 'Seven Mirrors' got them some notice, and they followed it with albums like 'The Thin Air' in 2005 and 'Vox' in 2009.
Their songs like 'Cruel Lovers' and 'Parachute' have a kind of ethereal quality to them, with Hamilton's voice floating over the arrangements. They kept putting out records through the 2010s, including 'The Echo' in 2013 and 'In the Shadow' in 2017.
They never seemed interested in playing the industry game, which made them a bit of an odd fit in the mainstream. Some critics found their lyrics too introspective, but their small following appreciated that about them.
