Army of Freshmen formed in Indianapolis in 1997, with Scott Klopfenstein as their frontman. Their debut album 'The Day is Coming' came out in 1999, featuring the single 'Erase Us' that connected with listeners. The band's lineup changed over time, though Klopfenstein stayed through it all.
They took a break around 2002, then returned in 2004 with 'Love and Other Ruins.' That album dealt with personal themes that some critics found heavy. They kept making music through the 2000s, putting out 'The World Is Yours' in 2007 and 'A Beautiful Mess' in 2011.
