After Os Mutantes ended in 1978, Baptista worked on solo material. He released albums like 'Loki?' in 1995 and 'O Macho' in 2009. Songs such as 'Será Que Eu Vou Virar Bolor?' and 'Cê Tá Pensando Que Eu Sou Loki?' show his continued interest in rock and experimental directions.

He sometimes played with family members like his brother Sérgio Dias. Baptista dealt with mental health challenges in the 1980s that kept him from music for a time, but he returned to performing in the 1990s.
