Archive material and source history
Arsames formed in Tehran in 2002, started by three brothers: Pouya, Peyman, and Arash Pakzad. They named the band after an Achaemenid general. Their first album, 'Persepolis,' came out in 2005, and the title track became a hit. The music mixes traditional Iranian melodies with rock and electronica.
They've released several albums since then, including 'Shirin' in 2008, 'Shahrzad' in 2012, 'Azadi' in 2015, 'Phoenix' in 2018, and 'Artavazd' in 2021. Some of their songs are 'Cyrus The Great,' 'Dooms Day,' 'Homo Sapiens,' and 'Xerxes.'
They kept making music and touring outside the country. Their live shows are known for blending Persian rhythms with rock.
