Arsen Dedic was a Croatian singer-songwriter and poet who began performing as a teenager. He was born in Šibenik in 1938, and his early life was shaped by World War II and his father's imprisonment by the communist regime. His music, often folk-influenced at first, explored themes of love and loss with a distinctive baritone voice.
Despite this, he kept writing and releasing albums like 'Arsen' in 1969 and 'Otisak prsta' in 1975. Other songs like 'Cigareta' and 'Kuća pored mora' became part of his catalog.
He collaborated with musicians including Tomislav Ivčić and Zoran Predin. Dedic married poet Vesna Parun in 1962, and their relationship was reportedly turbulent. He died in 2015 at age 77.
