Arsis is an American melodic death metal band from Virginia that formed in 2000. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist James Malone, they put out their debut album 'A Diamond for Disease' in 2005. Songs like 'Overthrown' and 'A March For The Sick' show their mix of technical playing and melodic hooks.

After guitarist Ryan Knight left in 2008, Malone handled all guitar work. The band went through a temporary hiatus around 2011 but came back together a couple years later. Their 2013 album 'Starve for the Devil' and 2018's 'Visitant' continued in that vein of precise, aggressive metal with clean melodic lines running through it.

Their lineup has included bassist Noah Martin and drummer Shawn Priest alongside Malone. The music stays rooted in that Virginia metal scene where they started, without much fuss or dramatic reinvention.
