Artur Novex came up in Rio de Janeiro's favelas, where he started making music around 2006. His song 'Casada Não É Capada' got attention for its direct lyrics about women's sexuality, which some people found provocative and others embraced. That track became one of his most recognizable pieces.

He worked with a group called Artur Novex e o Movimento, which included Crejo on backing vocals and Leka on drums. Other songs like 'A Crise Aérea Brasileira' and 'A Gripe Do Frango' show his tendency to take everyday Brazilian topics and set them to funk carioca rhythms. The music doesn't shy away from subjects like infidelity or social friction, which has led to occasional legal pressure and debate.

Over several albums, from 'Casada Não É Capada' in 2006 to 'A Voz do Povo' in 2016, he maintained a rough, vocal-driven style that resonated in Brazil's working-class neighborhoods. His stage presence was physical and unguarded, which fit the music's confrontational tone.
