As Desejadas formed in 2003 as an all-female Brazilian band led by vocalist Maria Gadú. Their debut album, 'As Desejadas Preparadas,' came out that same year and included the track 'Desejadas Preparadas.' The group's sound mixed samba and pop with other influences, which found an audience in Brazil.
Over time, the lineup changed. At one point it included Maria Gadú on vocals, Anelis Assumpção on guitar, Fernanda Takai on bass, and Lan Lan on drums. They released several more albums after their debut, including 'O Destino de Quem Ama' in 2006, 'Ao Vivo' in 2009, 'Mundo Distante' in 2012, and 'Eu Nunca Te Pedi Nada' in 2017.
Their music drew some media attention for how the members presented themselves, which was seen as unconventional in parts of Brazilian society at the time.
