As Insólitas formed in São Paulo in 2014 as an all-female quartet with members Maria Beraldo, Mariana Aydar, Luiza Lian, and Vivian Kuczynski. They released their self-titled debut album in 2016, followed by "A Vida É Um Baile" in 2019 and "A Vizinhança" in 2022.
Their music draws from Brazilian rhythms like samba and bossa nova, with lyrics that often address feminism and social justice. The song "Olha Pra Cá" from 2016 gained attention for its commentary on misogyny and violence against women.
They've collaborated with artists including Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso. The group continues to perform and record from their base in São Paulo.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
