As Irmãs Tavares were three sisters from Cachoeira Paulista, São Paulo, Rosemary, Ruth, and Sandra. They started singing in local churches as girls, and in 1973 their debut single "Me dê Motivo" became a hit in Brazil. Their songs like "Pra Nunca Mais Chorar" and "Vou Deixar" followed, and they kept recording through the 1970s.
One of their best-known songs is "Tu Não És Melhor Que Ninguém," which became something of an anthem. They also recorded "A Vitória está no Fim" and "Valor No Barro." The group disbanded in the 1980s, and the sisters went on to solo work in music and other fields.
