As Pitchulas formed in Fortaleza, Ceará in 1997, with Cissa Guimarães and Zezé Mota as founding members. Their debut album came out in 1999, featuring the song 'Amarelinha' which became widely known. The track was inspired by the Brazilian children's game of the same name.
They released several albums including 'Menina Veneno' in 2001, 'Coração' in 2003, and 'Somos Todos Um' in 2005. Another song, 'Amor Ignorado,' also appears among their work. The band included musicians like Marcos Valle on piano and Chico César on guitar at various points.
As Pitchulas collaborated with other Brazilian artists such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Maria Bethânia. They drew from Brazilian musical traditions and disbanded in 2010.
