Asas da América

Asas da América formed in Santos, São Paulo in 1989, started by brothers Marcos and Valdir Romani. Their sound mixed sertanejo traditions with pop touches, and they put out their first album in 1991. Songs like "Coração Verde e Amarelo" and "Lambada Chamegar" became staples, the former turning into something of a national anthem over time.

They've recorded more than twenty albums, and their work has included collaborations with artists like Fafá de Belém and Chitãozinho & Xororó. The band's lineup has included Paulo Henrique, Sady, and Sandro alongside the Romani brothers. Tracks such as "Paraíba," "Anunciação," and "Recife Nagô" show their range across sertanejo, pop, and other styles.

In 2004, their song "Mulher da Vida" drew criticism from some conservative groups who called it vulgar. The attention didn't slow them down much, the song found its audience anyway. They've kept recording and performing, their music holding a steady place in Brazilian popular culture without needing to dominate charts or trends.
