Atlas Sound

Atlas Sound is the solo project of Bradford Cox, who also fronts the band Deerhunter. He started it to work with tape loops and explore more experimental sounds, drawing from artists like Brian Eno and Harold Budd. The project's debut album came out in 2008, titled 'Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel.'

That first record established a sound built around hypnotic, ambient textures and introspective lyrics. Songs like 'Quick Canal' and 'An Orchid' show how Cox layers simple elements into something more expansive. The music can feel both ethereal and a bit chaotic, which has sometimes divided listeners.

Cox has collaborated with other artists through Atlas Sound, including Panda Bear from Animal Collective and Björk. The project released a few more albums after the debut, like 'Logos' in 2009 and 'Parallax' later on, each with its own slight shift in approach.
