Atona

Atona formed in São Paulo around 2004, with Juliana Perdigão and guitarist Rafael Castro at the center. They worked on a kind of atmospheric, experimental sound that didn't fit neatly into the city's established scenes, which made the early years a practical struggle.

Their debut album 'Passos Curtos' came out in 2008 and found an audience. The title track, with its sparse arrangement and Perdigão's vocals, became a quiet standout. The record's mood, ethereal, introspective, defined their first impression.

Later albums like 'Antes do Fim' and 'Noite' showed them folding in folk and electronic textures, but the core remained Perdigão's voice and a preference for atmosphere over straightforward songcraft. Songs like 'Pelos Dias De Ontem' and 'Porque' from their catalog kept that same reflective, almost haunted quality.
