Atox

Atox is a Brazilian musical collective from São Paulo, formed in 2007 and led by vocalist and lyricist Diego Castro. The band's name is a palindrome, which they've said reflects the contradictory sides of life. Their early years involved some financial struggles, but they kept at it, focusing on music as a form of social commentary.

In 2015, Atox put out the single "Engajamento Sociopolítico," which became a breakout track for them. Its lyrics tapped into frustrations felt by many in Brazil, and the song's rhythms caught on widely. Other songs like "Moda da Casa" and "Bomba Relógio" followed in a similar vein, sharp and direct in their messaging.

Their outspoken approach drew criticism from conservative circles, who accused them of stirring up conflict. Atox didn't back down, seeing their work as a way to challenge injustice and spark conversation. They've released albums like "Resistência" in 2013 and "Revolução" in 2017, with the band including members on guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards.
