Attitude Adjustment

Attitude Adjustment formed in Los Angeles in 1981 with vocalist Mark Squires, guitarists Chris Bratton and Russell Lange, bassist Philip Kaffel, and drummer Joe Sib. Their early shows built a following around a particularly aggressive take on hardcore punk, with songs like 'Fuck Chick' and '9-5 Religion' setting the tone.

Their lyrics dealt with violence, drugs, and social hypocrisy, which led to some venues banning them and conservative groups objecting to their records. They released albums like 'Get Ready to Die' and 'No Way Out' through the 1980s and into the 1990s, sticking with a raw, confrontational sound on tracks such as 'American Paranoia' and 'Bombs'.

They never really softened their approach or sought wider commercial acceptance, which kept their audience specific but dedicated. The band's name itself became a song title, and that kind of straightforward, unadorned presentation defined their work.
