Audarian Barroso grew up in Itapecerica da Serra, São Paulo, where he sang in church choirs. In the early 2000s, he joined the gospel group Voz Profética, which gave him his first real platform. The group's song 'Voz Profética' became a hit in Brazilian gospel circles, with Barroso's voice at the center of it.
He left Voz Profética in 2005 amid some public disagreements about money and how things were run. After that, he started putting out solo albums, including 'Audarian Barroso' in 2007 and 'Sangue do Cordeiro' in 2010. Those records mixed gospel with some pop and R&B touches, but he kept working with musicians who understood where he was coming from.
