Audenise Santos

Audenise Santos came up in Salvador, Bahia, where she sang in a local choir as a teenager. Her debut album in the late 1990s was called 'O Azeite da Viúva,' and its title track became a hit that brought her wider attention in Brazil.

She worked with artists like Carlinhos Brown and Gilberto Gil on later records, which moved between traditional Brazilian sounds and more contemporary approaches. Songs like 'Sete Trombetas' and 'A Peleja Não É Sua' show the range she explored after that first album.

In the early 2000s, she was involved in a public legal dispute with a former manager that affected her career for a time. She also supported education and health initiatives for marginalized communities outside of music.
