Audience formed in London in the late 1960s with Howard Werth on vocals and guitar, Paul Hodgson on bass, and Tony Connor on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1969, mixing folk, psychedelia, and progressive rock. The band's second album, 'Lunch,' followed in 1970 and included 'Priestess,' a track that became their most recognized song.
They put out one more studio album, 'The House on the Hill,' in 1971 before their run ended. Their live shows sometimes featured extended improvisations that divided listeners. Other songs like 'Belladonna Moonshine' and 'Banquet' show the same atmospheric quality that defined their brief catalog.
